"After 45 years of losing power, the workforce finally has a bit of leverage. Some of the leverage results from demographics--the Baby Boom generation is retiring en masse and so the workforce is shrinking--and from the revolution of opting out, as millions of individuals quit, creating a labor shortage unlike any in living memory."
Apparently more and more folks are saying "Take this job (or jab!) and shove it!" which isn't surprising considering how much has changed in just 2 years. Fortunately for millions of American workers and their families, the Supreme Court got it right yesterday and stopped the OSHA-enforced vaccine mandates for companies above 100 employees. Business owners can breathe a sigh of relief (for now) and get on with trying to recover from the last 2 brutal years of arbitrary, state-imposed restrictions on their businesses.
"Many small businesses desperately wanted to keep their places of business open after being forcefully shut down through most of 2020 and suffering the loss of key revenue streams for them and their families. Re-opening back up meant obeying either local, state, or federal mandates about vaccination and/or masks"
Unfortunately, they upheld the same mandate for most of America's health workers which will affect more than 10 million critically needed health workers and their families almost immediately. The dislocation and disruption this will cause for a mandate already rendered useless (The CDC data shows that vaccinated people get sick and die with covid every bit as much as the un-vaccinated do) cannot be over stated.
Already, independent health clinics not connected to any pharma, insurance or medicare monopolies are cropping up and free-market dynamics will drive those who seek alternatives to jobs and healthcare. Many of those companies who either voluntarily or under compulsion enforce some kind of health restriction on their customers do so reluctantly.
"I can only speak for myself, but I can’t tell you how many business owners I chat up on the daily that are genuinely sorry - literally apologizing to their regular customers - that they have to enforce citywide mandates."
This is going to create tremendous opportunities for business owners and their communities as buildings and other resources are re-purposed to accommodate demand at local levels. Supply chains will continue to be crushed by the different restrictions across state and country borders. Canada just rescinded their vaccine requirement for truckers crossing the US border which would have decimated trade and supplies to both countries.
Many states and localities are reporting bare shelves reminiscent of the early lock-downs of 2020. This is self imposed and an unnecessary imposition on an already fragile supply chain. If it wasn't already bad enough that bars and restaurants can't get timely supplies of booze, now jurisdictions like NYC, Boston and Minneapolis require vaccine passes to patronize local businesses.
Talk about killing the golden goose! These mostly appointed authorities have made life miserable for the group responsible for paying the largest share of taxes and by far the largest employer of workers whose salaries (and taxes) rely on those same businesses. it hurts my brain when I think about this level of stupidity.
I could go on but you get the point: Problems will continue but so will opportunities. What's the best way to take advantage of opportunity??
To CALL ME of course!!
